The Lost Prince

Prince John was the last child of King George V and Queen Mary. Seeing 'The King's Speech' reminded me of Steven Poliakoff's beautifully filmed period drama about Prince John's short life, as at one point in the film Albert is asked about his relationship with his brothers, and briefly mentions his epileptic sibling. It's tragic that John was hidden from public view because of his sickness, which was suggested to be more than just epilepsy (perhaps other behavioural problems or learning difficulties, hinted at in 'The Lost Prince'). It might have been blissful for a child of royalty to be freed from the public eye, and I love how this rare image of him playing on his bike captures a freedom his brothers probably never enjoyed.
